Me

My name is Erica. It just came to my mom to mind to name me that it was nothing really special. It was just a last minute thing. I am an artist who loves to: draw, paint, write stories, play instruments, and photography. I hate cameras, but I love to take picture of others things, that are not myself. I am good at every I do especially writing and drawing. My heart and soul is in my music and I would trade for that. I also do exterior and interior house design. I am an expert and that too. Even though I can not see very well my talents do not require eye-sight, except drawing. I can not draw with my eyes closed. I am a very strange person at times, I like music most others do not. I like the popular music to, but I only fall in love with strange different and artistic music. If it is popular in order for me to like it I have to think it is very good. Some of the songs I like are: I am hated by Slipknot, Queen of the Damned my Slipknot and Korn, Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, Ignorance by Paramore, Sugar by System of the Down, No scrub and Creep by TLC and many more songs.

2.16.10 - Creating shot lists

QOTD: In terms of making a film, what is a beat? Read the following link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_(filmmaking). Give your definition of a beat in your own words.

HierarchyofFilm.pages
Part 2 - Reading TttT (30 min)
TttT David Mamet On Directing pg. 1-7 and answer the following questions on your blog:
1. Mr. Mamet Describes two ways to make a movie. What are they?
2. Uninflected is defined as something NOT changed by tone or pitch? What does that mean in film?
3. Mamet says we, as storytellers, should “let the cut tell the story.” What does that mean? 4. What is a shot list most similar to?
5. Mamet gives this as an example of something you can not film without narration:”Nick, a young fellow in his thirties with a flair for the unusual.” Why would this be impossible to film without narration?
6. Why, according to Mamet, has steadycam hurt film?
7. How is a film like a dream?
Part 3 - Whole Class Shot List (20 min)
Together as a class, develop a shot list of uninflected images.

2.10.10 - The Grammar of Editing

Warm Up (20 min)
Cut- to make a film shorter by taking out the selected piece.
Matched Cut-a familiar relationship between the shots may make the change seem smoothMotivated Cut
Cut made just at the point where what has occurred makes the viewer immediately want to see something which is not currently visible (causing us, for instance, to accept compression of time). A typical feature is the shot/reverse shot technique (cuts coinciding with changes of speaker). Editing and camera work appear to be determined by the action. It is intimately associated with the 'privileged point of view' (see narrative style: objectivity).
